• if you want to know how to use a program, read everything you can find about it (on their website, their forums, and so on), then when it still doesn’t work, post half your /etc and a dmesg or two. it is actually a whole lot more entertaining/engaging that way. and posting that you have imaginings of penetrating networks unauthorized online, not…[Read more]

  • rewind a couple comments. Ettercap can sniff switched networks? How and why. If i plugged in my gentoo box at any level of my network (including associating wireessly), how would i need to configure it to hop switches? Could I see lower level traffic from a wireless attack?

I have been wondering this, as my home network has a modem–>swtich–>and…[Read more]

  • i don’t know much about it, but I believe Dan Kaminsky had done something with DNS and tunneling to get through those sorts of things.

  • thanks. i’ll look into that.

ATM cells are really small (about 48 bytes) but have a Virtual Channel and Virtual Path indicator in the header. But maybe going that low isn’t all that necessary up front.

and prank calls are just the ‘public face’ of this idea. you can pass out a program with instructions on how to spoof a phone number, but those…[Read more]

  • Since my last post I found a hack for installing debian on my G1. This does NOT replace android, nor does it make android stop working. it runs off the sdcard, so get a bigger sdcard before you install it. there is also the G1-hackers mailing list.

a friend of mine has the neo-runner with openmoko. am still really interested in that, but if you…[Read more]

  • Damn, I don’t think I’ve ever been so terrified by a website, nor intrigued.

Nothing supercedes the need to stop criminals before they strike, and bring outlaws to justice

Err, especially the bill of rights? hmm. Its not like

Honestly, I’m more interested in making really advanced prank calls by manipulating the ATM cells, that and using MitM…[Read more]

  • I got the G1 running android and have root, but I heard you can straight up install debian or gentoo or whatever flavor you like on the openmoko phone, although somehting like damn small linux would be more intelligent.

im working on getting more stuff on the android, in particular developing a an interface to tcpdump. you can get port scanners,…[Read more]

  • I would go with C#. If you’re gonna take a class, then at least get a class’s worth of info. VB can be learned relatively quickly on your own time.

C# is pretty much a Java clone, so if you get it, then Java will also come easily. They’re strongly typed languages, and come with extensive libraries designed to make development go faster, but hide…[Read more]

  • One thing to keep in mind about your script regarding secure practices is how you use raw_input.

in my experience, raw_input() is way better than just input(), but you MUST run checks on it and scrub the data. otherwise your program will be buggy at best and most likely insecurely coded.
