I have not challenged any exam, but I have taken 4 SANS certifications (1 GSEC, 1 GSEC Renewal, 1 GCIH, and 1 GSNA). In doing the live classes, I do know that you have to wait several weeks prior to the exam to be available. The practice tests were available within 2 days after the course finished. For the recert, I made the order on…[Read more] -

I have used Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. Located here…http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/avptool2010?level=2
It has helped in most cases for Windows boxes used in safe mode (as long as you keep getting the latest version of signatures).

Welcome to the group. I had an issue with BT4 Pre with the ethernet adapters. This was my thread about it…

Correct! VPN or any encrypted tunneling would do as well.
Use that a lot when at hotels! -

Welcome aboard!
One suggestion would be think like the user that wants to avoid being filtered. Use google and search for “anonymous proxies”. Click on each link until you are able to view the site. Done!
If it passes that (you can’t get to one), set up a anonymous proxy yourself and see if you can get to it. (Does it block uncatagorized sit…[Read more]

@ bamed – I hear you loud and clear! 😉
@ sil – What about pen and paper? We’ll have to write a policy on no writing devices including no etch-a-sketch’s! ;D
On one of our last security audits, I debated on how far are we to take DLP as it all comes down to how much does a person want the info. All they need is the pen and paper to com…[Read more]

Nice find! I am actually in the process of looking for a DLP solution. Unfortunately the costs are extremely high (not compared to the fines that could be subjected if data was to leak) for the devices. I would definately need the “Future Plans” of…Perform real-time monitoring of PCs’ network cards to report outbound sensitive data. That to…[Read more]

I tried…Guess I did not “Try Harder”!
I looked at the source of the pages to try and pick something out. “HAHAHAHA!” kept bugging me.
I kept getting the 5 minute delay. 🙁I think I will be taking some courses this year when the time is right! 😉
Congrats on getting by Level 1 Ketchup and xXxKrisxXx and anyone else I forgotten!

CDW sells the M86 product. You might want to contact them to see if there are any deals. Plus – M86 does an eval unit as well just to make sure it works for your needs.

Ahh…I went through this a couple years ago. We had a Internet Web Security Suite (IWSS) by Trend Micro. They stated it was a solid product…until…people were in google searching anonymous proxy and clicking until they got through. TM then stated it was not meant to be a true proxy server.
So – we had to switch to protect our network. We…[Read more] -
