I think this one was even more time consuming than last years 🙂 Was a heck of a lot of fun though.

Some great questions there. I can’t speak to a lot of them but on the tracking front I know Dradis is a popular option.

The alfa card’s are very well respected. Antenna wise, several of the experts at this year’s Defcon wireless village had high praise for this model http://www.simplewifi.com/mini-panel-2.4ghz-8dbi-sma-rp-indoor-directional-antenna.html
It’s cheap, directional and low profile so it may fit the bill.

azmatt replied to the topic CASP VS GSEC in the forum General Certification 6 years, 6 months ago
Sound’s like you’re in great shape. Index’s are even more important than normal on a test like the GSEC which has so much material covering so many broad topics.
In my experience SANS tests don’t try to trip you up with trick questions and really reward preparation.

azmatt replied to the topic CASP VS GSEC in the forum General Certification 6 years, 6 months ago
I’ve never taken the CASP so I can’t speak to that but I have taken the GSEC and can say that the test is very passable but I would try to compile a solid index. There is a blog post on creating a SANS index at http://digitalforensicstips.com/2012/11/sans-index-how-to-guide-with-pictures/ that a lot of people have found helpful.
Good luck!
Matt

Thanks a lot for writing this up Victor. I’m a long way from the 660 level let alone the 760 but reading reviews like these give me a good idea of what topics to study.
Much appreciated.

You probably have already, but don’t forget to check out the SANS work study program. All of my SANS courses have been paid for out of pocket and there’s no way I could have done it without that program.
Feel free to hit me up with any questions you have.
Good luck,
Matt

azmatt replied to the topic Certification plans for 2014? in the forum General Certification 7 years, 2 months ago
Man, it really has been a year since the last thread…..
My late 2012 and 2013 goal was to take a lot of classes and get a lot of certs in an effort to get caught up and well rounded. It was mission accomplished as in 2013 I got my GCFE, GSEC, CISSP, CEH, GWAPT and I take my GCIA next month.
While there will no doubt be some classes and certs…[Read more]

azmatt replied to the topic Should I learn C? in the forum Programming 7 years, 4 months ago
I think dynamik nailed it. I use python in my daily life but I bought an intro to c book a few weeks ago because I realized that I really should get comfortable with C before I seriously try to improve my assembly, reverse engineering & exploit dev skills.

When I wanted to learn electronics a few years ago I looked at several books and ended up going with this one. It was great and I couldn’t recommend it more. The name escapes me but there’s a really good blog out there where I guy posted his thoughts after each experiment in the book that I found beneficial a few times as well.
Also if you’re…[Read more]
