HP to buy Fortify Software

IT giant Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced on Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire San Mateo, Calif.-based  Fortify Software, maker of software security assurance solutions.

The acquisition, whose terms were not disclosed, was made to strengthen the HP application security software portfolio.

Hmmm... yet more interesting news.  Always funny when it takes acquisitions to bolster one's security offerings.  I won't name names, but I know a few other companies who NEED to do the same, and could think of a few very worthwhile investments they could make, in open-source solutions, that would easily strengthen their product lines.
