CISSP Exam Registration

I'm looking to schedule my CISSP exam and noticed that there aren't a whole lot of options (through ISC2). There are however, several in the list that say they are offered by The Training Camp and to 'register with host.'

Does anyone know if these exams are open to the public for registration? Can I sign up to take the exam through Training Camp without taking their course?

TIA :-)

I didn't even know that was an option.  I tried to take the exam in one of the ISC2 centers, and it was canceled, twice.  I ended up driving to DC to take the exam.  I heard similar stories from others.

I believe the answer is no.  I believe the reason might be that the certification test is being given in an area provided by the training camp.  We did something similar at my work, where we had a training provider come, then there was a test in our facility that weekend.  I do not believe it was opened to the outside.

It may be worth it to check with the training camp just to make sure.

Re: CISSP Exam Registration

Thanks guys. I did email Training Camp last night when I made this post, just figured it was worth checking here as the responses are usually much quicker ;)

I was thinking I could just drive back up to Michigan as they usually have tests quarterly but there's only 1 exam date this year.

My expectation is that the answer is no as well but I couldn't figure out why ISC2 would list the exam on their website if it's a private training. If they were to list all of the CISSP courses that included an exam I would think there'd be many more options.

Oh well, I'll let you know if/when I hear back from Training Camp.

They'll be going away from paper tests if you wait around long enough:

oOoOo, that'd be nice! :)

But "Phasing in its other credential exams over the next three years" :( might be a long wait

I emailed both ISC2 and Training Camp and have yet to hear back from either. Has anyone done training through Training Camp recently? How was your experience?

Re: CISSP Exam Registration

Ok, disregard. I just decided to give Training Camp a call to find out what the deal is.

They said that the exams they offer are "reserved for students only." The course is apparently a 7-day review and the cost is $4,795 lol ... forget that. I would hope that at least includes the exam.

I guess I'm just going to give it a shot in a few weeks here and see what happens. Worst case I don't pass and am out the $600 - which I'm sure I'll be pissed about but a couple 151 shots should solve that problem ;) Then I'll just have to wait until October to take it again. :-\

Re: CISSP Exam Registration

How should a student bring up $4,795?

I assume that you should be able to pass with your first try, Bill. ;)

Re: CISSP Exam Registration

Haha, thanks guys :) truly appreciate it and I hope so.

I picked up two books that were just published - Official ISC2 2ndEd, and All-in-One 5thEd so I'm hoping those along with cccure.org will make sure I'm prepared.
