ISC2 CPE credits - any benefit for non-isc2 cert holders?

I have been taking some courses, attending web casts etc which have given me quite a bit of these ISC2 CPE credits but I don't have the required security experience to have obtained an isc2 cert.  Are these CPE credits any beneficial to someone like me?  Or should I basically ignore the fact that a certain course gives you so many CPE credits since that's probably just for ISC2 cert holders?

Just curious..
Thanks!

I don't think there's anything a non-ISC2 person can do with CPE credits that are awarded from various activities. When you do have an ISC2 credential, you typically have to register with your number in order for the credits to count anyway.

As a ISC2 certified individual you earn CPE credits towards re-certifying your certification, and you are able to use CPE credits towards ISC2 certifications once you have earned them.

BillV is correct about ISC2 certified individuals having to log into ISC2's website to record CPE credits.

If you are not an ISC2 certified individual then your CPE credits and a $1.50 would get you a cup of coffee.

So, what it means is that you should get your CISSP (or C|EH for that matter) and put those CPEs to good use!

And who knows, maybe SANS will get around to using CPEs instead of re-certification. :)

If you take any of the ISACA certs (CISA, CISM, etc.), you can use your CPEs for those as well.
