C# in Linux?

Anyone know of a good IDE for C# in Linux?

I've been using M$ Visual Studio for years, and now that I have made the transition to using mostly only Linux, I can't find a good IDE.

I thought SharpDevelop was for Linux as well as Windows, but I was wrong. :P

I've heard of getting intellisense to work with vi, but I haven't looked into, yet.

Thanks!
Put that in your pipe and grep it!

Re: C# in Linux?

How about...

Mono

The Mono Project is an open development initiative sponsored by Novell to develop an open source, UNIX version of the Microsoft .NET development platform. Its objective is to enable UNIX developers to build and deploy cross-platform .NET Applications. The project implements various technologies developed by Microsoft that have now been submitted to the ECMA for standardization.

MonoDevelop

MonoDevelop is a free GNOME IDE primarily designed for C# and other .NET languages, although open to any kind of language. However, MonoDevelop hopes to be more than just an IDE: it intends to be an extensible platform upon which any kind of development tool can be built.

MonoDevelop was originally a port of the SharpDevelop IDE (http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SD/) to Gtk#, but it has evolved a lot since the initial port.

And here's an article for you:

Hope that helps,

Re: C# in Linux?

Thanks for the information Don!  I was just asking a friend of mine about this and he wasn't sure if .NET would work in Linux.  Now we both know.

Darn, MonoDevelop is for Gnome. :(
