Anonymous hacks scientology...

I found this video on you tube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCbKv9yiLiQ&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fencyclopediadramatica%2Ecom%2FMain_Page

A hacking ground named "Anonymous" did a DDOS attack on Scientology's website and that video is a declaration of their attack.  I just wanted to know what you all think of this and if anyone knows about this group.  You can find some more info about them at the following link:

Edit:

I also found out that there is a world wide protest of Scientology on 2-10-08 and this group even made a set of rules for people that are going to protest:

This is all too weird...

Wow, kinda crazy. As weird as I think the CoS is, can't say I'd condone their hacktivism (obviously). I've never heard of the group before, and I read through some of the pages you posted. There are references to 4Chan, 7Chan, 420Chan, and maybe a few others. No idea what those are either.

Maybe the CoS is looking to contract some IT security professionals ;)

HAHA yeah they might be looking for some now.  However from everything I looked up about Anonymous they seem to be done with the DOS and are moving on to other phases of their attack e.g. prank calls, IRL protests and other things.  I am very interested to see how this all plays out.  Obviously its not very ethical to DOS a website but I am interested to see if these people who all met online and have no leaders can actually have a successful protest and or be noticed.  I have never heard of anything like this before...  This site isn't working now but I'll post a link to their "plan" when I can later.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty interesting that they'd DoS the website with no problem, but in that second video listing their "rules" for protesting they try to make it as legal as possible. Where did you see/hear the 2/10/08 thing anywhere? I didn't see that anywhere.

No matter if you agree with there mission or not if they use DDOS attacks as tools of protest they can not be supported by "Ethical" hackers and if you have some certs there are codes of conduct you agreed too. I personally feel that because they used DDOS attacks they are just malicious and do not deserve my support no matter what there mission is.

My 2 cents....

Re: Anonymous hacks scientology...

My thoughts are neither group gets my support.  I agree with groups attitude toward Scientology and their draconian and shady methods of legalist strong arming, but I don't condone the unethical protest.  There have been a few cases of collateral damage where they ddosed/attacked those they thought to be connected to CoS, but it turned out they were not.  My feelings are I'm more than happy to sit back and watch the two groups annoy the crap out of each other.

Check this out http://www.partyvan.info/index.php/Project_Chanology

Yeah obviously I don't think it was a great idea to do the DOS and I don't know all the facts about Scientology I'm just interested to see if random people on the internet can actaully put something like this together without leaders and what not.
