Heh, now THAT'S bad when the only thing they can nail a virus writer for... is the fact he copied a movie to distribute his virus in.

Saw that story a few days ago, couldn't help but laugh.

Reminds me of them getting Al Capone for tax evasion. Just shows that even if it isn't illegal, if it isn't seen as 'right' it is still a good idea to watch your step

In the absence of a crime specific to your actions there has always been a creative side to the law. In the UK some phone phreaking crimes were prosecuted as theft of electricity in the absence of a law specific to phreaking. It was probably the only justified loss a telco could claim in the circumstances.

Of course the theft amounted to a few pence at best.

Stolen electricty?  That's freaking classic.  I had no idea that a case like that had occured, I'll have to look it up.
