AIX IBM 6

Does anyone have a list of free tools or recommendations to crack AIX IBM (v6.1) hashes offline? I am guessing you still copy off the \etc\passwd and \etc\shadow files, but I dont know which tools are best to then export the hashes and run dicitonary attacks against them? Any pointers most welcome.

There isn't an /etc/shadow file (it's /etc/security/passwd): http://unix.ittoolbox.com/groups/techni ... ent-839420

Also, it doesn't look like the hashing method is known yet (at least as of a few months ago): http://www.openwall.com/lists/john-users/2013/02/13/12

Re: AIX IBM 6

Hashcat recently added support for AIX algorithms (smd5, ssha1, ssha256 and ssha512) in v0.45.

Assuming your auditing for weak passwords, you may find the following useful in enforcing stronger password policies: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/aix/v ... swords.htm
Security + | OSWP | eCPPT (Silver & Gold) | CSTA

Thanks for the replies, I'll give hashcat a go.
