Just wondering if they are connected or did I end up with a new account. Used the link in the email to sign up and signed up wit( my original email address. Had to pick a new username and I was able to choose the same one I had previously.

What was your old username? By using the same email address and username, it should have recognized you and applied all of the old posts.

I’m not seeing your email in our old userbase. Please confirm, but here’s what I’m thinking…
You never actually posted in the old forums. In an attempt to keep the new db as clean as possible, we purged all old accounts with zero forum posts. So if an old EH-Netter posted at least once, their posts were kept and so were their accounts.
Many sites purge old users as a regular process of keeping things up to date. Even when EH-Net was live years ago, we did the same. So although at one time we had 100,000+ members, that was eventually purged to about 20k. We did however keep all of those last 20k and sent the email you most likely received with the ‘gift’.
Does this sound like your case?
Either way, thanks for re-joining us, and we look forward to your contributions.

Could be. Has been a long time. I did register with the same email and username. Don’t know about an email with a “gift”. Only received an email announcing “We Are Back” and an invite to register with the new site. It did say something about a free course, but nothing else on that. Will have to be more active for sure.

a long time back you actually opted-out of emails from eLearnSecurity (Caendra), either intentionally or due to several bounces from your mailbox. That’s why you did not receive the invite email now. We will resend that mail, when you add the PTS course to your account it will be corrected back to an “opted-in” status 😉
Hope that helps?
