For those of you who are fans of Arduino and Raspberry Pi, there is a board out there that has more power than the Pi with the IOs and electronics acumen of the Arduino. Check it out:

      What is BeagleBone Black?

BeagleBone Black is a $45 MSRP community-supported development platform for developers and hobbyists. Boot Linux in under 10 seconds and get started on development in less than 5 minutes with just a single USB cable.

For those not familiar, here’s a comparison article that will work for a simplistic view of the 3:

Look for more info on electronics, embedded systems, microcontrollers and other DIY projects like robotics in the EH-Net Forums for Hardware Hacking, as I am dusting off the old books and looking at new products to work on with my 9 year old son and hopefully 6 year old daughter.

Sounds like you’re in for some fun, don!

Always good to hear about hardware, so keep on posting these. (Now that I need to look into the BeagleBone Black… ;D )

The BeagleBone Black is too powerful for what I am doing!!

But it’s crazy to see what we can get now for $45.
I will stick with my Arduino Uno for now, but I will definitively get this one later this fall.

      Thanks Don! 😉

From just reading the topic, I thought this was a new version of Ubuntu. You know, like they reached the end of the alphabet and on the next iteration through they had to use three words starting with the same letter.
