Details on the new training course from eLearnSecurity is out! There’s been some buzz about the new eLS course and what it could possibly be. As the above title indicates, one of the premier online training organizations is getting into RE. If you are interested in Software Reverse Engineering, either driven by curiosity or by the dream to become a professional in this subject, then the Advanced Reverse Engineering of Software (ARES) course is just what you need to get all the theoretical and practical knowledge to start your journey into the world of RE. And it starts right here with Reverse Engineering 101.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a webcast or a hacking contest, so why not combine them into one big EH-Net Special Event? And to get your Holiday Season rolling in proper EH-Net fashion, we’re also able to offer 5% Off with Coupon Code: EH-Net-5-eLS, even before the official launch date of Nov 26. So go reserve your seat now.
So here’s what we’ve cooked up for all of you EH-Netters out there. Just like you, eLS is also driven by passion, so they prepared a small challenge for their future students. Below is an executable just begging to be broken. You’ll have until Monday Dec 9 to break it. If you do, you’ll be entered into a pool of candidates where one of you will win the entire ARES course + Certification Exam for free! Then tune in to our Webcast with eLS’s Armando Romeo and Kyriakos Economou on Tuesday Dec 10 at 11:00 AM CT (GMT-6) for an Intro to RE, the solution to the challenge and the announcement of the winner. Good Luck.

Tried giving it a go but with my current level I didn’t get very far. Seems to have some antireversing features which I have no idea how to patch / bypass – however that could be my very inexperienced mistake.
Would love to do it to learn, but haven’t got the skills to even do the basic yet it seems 🙂

Thanks for trying. Be sure to tune in to the webcast to learn how to solve the challenge. It’s a great primer in RE. It’s all about the learning. 🙂

The webcast for “Reverse Engineering 101 – Newbie Contest and Webcast with eLearnSecurity” at Tue, Dec 10, 2013 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM CST has been canceled due to unfortunate conflicts.
Don’t fret, as the contest remains alive and well, and we’ll still award the eLS ARES class to the winner. In fact, we will also publish an article with details of the solution to the challenge, announce the winner and also post a video with the same contents planned for this cancelled webcast.
Stay tuned to EH-Net for details on when the video and article are ready. Get more details on eLS’s ARES online course and certification: http://www.elearnsecurity.com/course/advanced_reverse_engineering_of_software/
Be sure to take advantage of the 5% Discount with Coupon Code: EH-Net-5-eLS.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Kyriakos is going through the entries and then will pick the winner and contact them offline first. We’ll then announce it here in the forums possibly as early as tomorrow.
The article with walk-through and video should be done next week.
Thanks for your patience and kind words,
