The Mainland Advanced Research Society is proud to announce its second annual Security B-Sides Conference. The inaugural 2013 event attracted over 80 attendees ranging from developers to network administrators to vulnerability researchers to IT directors and featured speakers from a broad range of organizations locally as well as internationally.  We are excited to finally announce the details of our 2014 event which will be hosted at the Chateau Granville Hotel over two days and will be more than double the size of the 2013 event featuring not only a speaker’s track but new to this year: a workshop track.

What is B-Sides you might ask? Well, B-Sides are not-for-profit, open-source, independently run, community supported information security conferences that happen all over the world. Security B-Side Conferences strive to be the unconference to the stereotypical and seemingly homogenous security conferences that have evolved from educational forums to marketing junkets.

Security B-Sides strives to provide smaller, more intimate networking and knowledge sharing atmospheres, fascinating breakout discussions and typically fosters stronger audience participation, overall group interaction and access to some of the brightest minds in the information security community.

This conference is for everyone who has an interest or desire to learn about computer security.

New this year, Security BSides Vancouver 2014 will be running a Workshop track which will provide attendees with the opportunities to get their hands dirty. We need members of the information security community who want to share a skill or teach a trick and give back to the community.

We have opened a Call For Workshops and… also want you to submit!B-Sides is accepting proposals for:

  • 180 minute (2 hours) workshops
  • 240 minute (3 hours) workshops

Security B-Sides is proud to offer low cost and no cost options for attendees who are interested in being a part of the conference and the community. We will be releasing tickets in January 2014. Stay tuned!

More info on BSides Vancouver 2014 will be posted when it becomes available.
