Okay, I recently took and past the GCIH exam and I'd like to take the CEH test in a few weeks. By studying for the SANS GCIH exam do you think I'm adequately prepared for the CEH exam?

Any areas that I might want to focus on? Also, do you recommend the CEH 7 or 8?

Thanks

Question is whether to recommend the CEH at all....

I plan on getting one for resume/box checking fodder but i don't anticipate learning a ton studying for it.

I won't comment on whether the CEH will help your career or not, but I do not support EC-Council as an organization. Good luck with the GCIH.

CEH is quite different than GCIH. Yes, they do overlap on some subjects, but you still have some study to do to pass the CEH exam (unless you already know it from experience).

Take a look at the skills mesured in the exam: http://www.eccouncil.org/courses/exam_information/ceh_exam_312-50.aspx

Also, I don't see a huge difference between CEHv7 and CEHv8. I was part of an EC-Council certification review group for CEHv8 and we proposed more up to date content. So CEHv8 is slightly more up to date, so I encourage you to go for the latest one. This is my humble opinion (not EC-Council's one!!), but they are probably 95% the same.

But there isn't much difference between the two, so CEHv7 is good too!

Good luck!

From JObs prospective CEH is more familiar than GCIH on most of the company requirements list on some ocassions.. but they both are unique with their own ways...Please refer the below thread
