Hi all,

So most of you will know me on here and most of you would have seen my website. Well I decide to update it and give it refresh coat of paint. It still needs some work mainly silly spelling mistake that i need to sort out and stuff i want change/update.

MY website is a mixture of a blog and advice for people trying to break into security mainly penetration testing. When I started Six months ago trying to get a junior security job in the UK sometimes it felt like i would have more chance of winning the lottery then getting a job. My site is about trying to bridge the gap to offer free advice on how i got my job the step and things people can do to try improve their chances.

As I value the people on here opinion I am really looking for some feedback on the site and any recommendation on pages or anything that you think may help a newbi.

I am trying to get my site as a really good resource for junior pen tester that will help other like me get the job they really want.

Thanks Smiley

Hi Jamie,

I am trying to get into penetration testing and have started visiting this forum to get tips and advice from others in the same position and also from the more experienced.
I was delighted to see your web site as it is excellent to find first hand accounts of people's experiences and also reviews of courses.

There are lots of certificates to take and a great deal of information to learn so I appreciate reading about someone else's journey.
I have an MSc in Forensic Computing and am looking to enhance this with the CCNA (I've done the Cisco Academy course and am now revising for the exam) and soon the OSCP. My ultimate goal is to take the CREST registered pen tester exam.

Good luck and I will certainly use your site as a resource.

Looks good security wise, without running any tools or trying to inject any data that is  Smiley I recommend you encode your e-mail address so it isn't like security@xxx.tld but so it's like security[at]xxx.tld or [something else] to prevent spam-bots harvesting the e-mails from your website  Wink

In case you've bought or gotten the template from somewhere else and built upon it, make sure you don't have e.g., an outdated version (like 1.X) of TimThumb installed. (It's often named thumb.php, timthumb.php)

Thanks for the advice I have gone thought and tried to lock it down as much possible removing default settings putting strong password in place and removing anything that was not needed also adding htaccess to protect certain directories

No offensive to how it used to look, but that's a real improvement and I love the new theme Cheesy

Did you design it yourself?

You site makes me sad panda Sad  It looks great!  I've been thinking of revamping my current site but haven't found the time to do so since I don't promote it at all.  I do have a blog site up but updating it is another story.  I keep it around so I can practice writing and such.  Some of my friends and family appreciate the advice I post.  Still haven't really found my niche yet.

But yes, your site looks great and good luck with it!

Awe my company filter is blocking the tutorials page, embedded link issue.  And even better the internal cell network is now running in crap mode.  No hotspotting out today.  Ugh I need to get out of this bunker.

Anyway I digress so yes, keep up the good work!!

Hi Jamie,

Love your new design!! (have also been a visitor of your site when it had the old one)

Wow, I am jealous , since setting up a page/blog is also on my toDo list for quite some time now (the domain is already set)... and your site is just what I had imagined  Grin.

Maybe a bit off topic but I found out that you have removed the Syngress XSS Attack book from your "future" reading list ( If I can remember it right).
Any reasons for this? Since I bought it the other week and think it is quite an interesting read (read the first 100 pages so far).
Reading it always makes me shiver of what's all possible with Xss...
Anyways...getting back to the topic...

Great page!  Good luck with it!

Hmm thanks for the feedback no reason for removing it I didn't get round to reading it yet its still on my book shelf but if I listed all my books the page would be so long its unture. I just try to list upcoming book and books that are relative new the XSS book is a few years old now and with all the courses I am doing I dont get much time to read at the moment.
