Couldn't find anything via search...

We've tried several times, the last attempt was on Freenode. No one really joined. It was probably this time last year.
A few people would show up, but it was rare to have anyone talk there.

Well they are two different things.. I prefer 'Forums' because we can post and read at leisure.

I prefer forum too because each post is saved and we can look at it even many years after.

I know IRC and forum are different my point was being if I was IRC I would ask on there and not post it in the forum so others may miss out on question and answers. I prefer the forum.

I kinda thought of the IRC channel more of a supplement to the forums ... by no means as a substitute.
However I can understand the danger, that a conversation might get lost in cyberspace, rather then "preserving this knowledge" in the forums.
Still, I sometimes have the feeling that a "synchronus" communication tool makes conversations at times easier.
...anyways, it was just a thought.
