The net was... well I won't discuss it much hehe.  Not my fav.

Hackers, great campy movie.  I loved the 3d 'fly through' of a server. Tongue  And the badguy jumping out of a limo... to ride by on a skateboard.. then jump back in made me crack up to no end.

Die hard 4.... I just kept thinking of him from the Apple vs PC commercials.  That's all I could think of.  Didn't he USE a mac in that movie too?  I've noticed that as a trend in a lot of hacker movies, they use a Mac.  Even though.... macs are the minority for such an endevor, no offence to those of you who DO use mac.

War games.. groovy.

Firewall, that was interesting.  It was the Harrison Ford one right? Where he used a broken open scanner, connected to an Ipod to 'download' the images of the passcodes from a screen?  I don't know if such a hardware hack is easily possible like that, but it was a cool add in I thought.

Matrix, gotta love a movie that espouses the psuedo gothy hacker.  Especially one with a chick in tight leather who uses nmap and then an actual exploit.  CRC32, or sshnuke.  Liked Mouse too, he reminded me of my old German roomate.  Pervy little guy, but lovable.

Swordfish was ok... I like Haley.

I think you see Mac's used in hacker movies because the movie industry is more familiar with them.  Since most of the best movie and graphic editing software runs on Mac.

True.  That is about what I figured, I think it is funny though.. since main stream hacker culture is not mac centric... though the newer movies seem to have this feel.

It did make for a cool movie bit, but I'm thinking that it looked pretty impossible. Maybe with some advanced prep work and some serious hardware knowledge, but not the way they showed it in the movie.

Can't wait til war games 2!

What about these?

Real Genius (there is some hacking there)
Office Space - I believe that's hacking on a Mac there...
Lawnmower Man

Also, all the Ocean's XX movies, and the Italian Job have some sort of hacking happening.   Some of it is cool.

My favorite is the stuff they do in shows like CSI where they connect a usb device and download the entire hard drive in about 15 seconds.   I just love watching the progress bar go.   If you have ever imaged a hard drive, that's soooo funny.
