July 2004 - Paul Graham

Quote
(This essay is derived from a talk at Oscon 2004.)

A few months ago I finished a new book, and in reviews I keep noticing words like "provocative'' and "controversial.'' To say nothing of "idiotic.''

I didn't mean to make the book controversial. I was trying to make it efficient. I didn't want to waste people's time telling them things they already knew. It's more efficient just to give them the diffs. But I suppose that's bound to yield an alarming book.

Condor's(Kevin Mitnick's) girlfriend "Suzy Thunder" was reported to spread the story that Condor could launch a nuclear attack by whistling into a telephone. Condor did about 10 yrs in prison, 8 yrs in Solitary. When he was released in 2001, he was prohibited from using any kind of technology other than a "Landline telephone" (No cells).
THAT's smart, isn't it?

Of course, Condor couldn't reeeaallly launch a nuclear attack. Ma Bell would probably have something to do with it.
