Could someone share their recent training course experiences? I'd be interested in hearing about more recent experiences with the Hacking Dojo, The Hacking Academy, and eLearnSecurity.

I reviewed the eLearn course relatively recently here. The OSCP has been the most challenging and rewarding course I've done, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone whose just starting out.

I don't have personal experience with The Hacking Dojo or The Hacking Academy. Tom, who runs The Hacking Dojo, is a member here (grendel), and I've seen nothing but good things about his course offerings.

I have done the course from hacking dojo back in the day when it was herot.net. I have like version 1 of his classes. haha. He is now like on version 4.

Tom contacted me and the way he put it was that the new version of his course is about 10 or so hours of video and TONS of hands on.

I have read his book pro pen testing which is pretty cool.

he has good stuff and he helps with questions all the time.

We actually have over 25 hours of videos right now. :-)

I reviewed the eLearn course relatively recently here.

I've just completed the eLearnSecurity (eCPPT) course recently and totally agree with ajohnson's review.

If you haven't already, you can get a free module from the course to get a feel for it.

I haven't any experience with Hacking Dojo either but again I've only heard good things about it.

Great review of the eLearnSecurity course, Andrew! Thanks for the link. I'm actually thinking about signing up for PTP2 after I will have done my review of TCP/IP, Assembly, UNIX, C++, and PHP, which are actually among its pre-requisites.

Thanks for the link to the free module, m0wgli.

For now, as I do my refresher on the above things, I will work in parallel at the Dojo for a month or two and see if I can complete a level or two over there. Thank you for the update on the number of hours of video lessons, Thomas.

LT72884, I appreciate your comment on the Hacking Dojo and Thomas' book.
