Ok let me bait some of you to post. So far we have I have not seen anything like:
How to setup a basic home network
How to get a D-link or Linksys home/small business router to port forward.
Common lock downs for windows (for home users or small offices)
VPN (software)
Spyware software
Anti-virus (what do you recommend)
Data Recovery (with Windows tools or Linux live Cd's)

Anyone here could start a topic on any of these and get some options or share there experience. I know most of you are not going to land that high paying security engineer job right away but you might have experience setting up smaller networks or your own network. I have a strong networking background but mostly from the WAN side so I am not real good with Windows Server policies or Active Director proper security settings. Anyway post questions or issues you have worked out and see if anyone can learn from what you have done.

Or you may not have any experience whatsoever in those or other topics, but you want to know about it. So you could even post a question like:

- I've never installed a hardware firewall on the perimeter of a network. How do you do it?
- Member so-and-so said "quote" in another post. What the heck did that mean?
- What's an IDS/IPS an where does it go in my network?

Don

PS - Be sure to ask these questions in new posts and not as replies to this thread.

If you cant do any of those things, like I posted before, even a quick post to say you like or found interesting a video or a tutorial that someone went to a lot of effort to make is a nice place to start and not hard to do!
