Win Black Hat Briefings Pass Worth $2195!!

This month's prize should come as no surprise, as EH-Net and Black Hat have been doing this for years. Simply put, if you can make 1 trip each year, Vegas is the place to be. Many EH-Netters have attended and presented and can attest to the importance of this week to their careers. DEFCON draws crowds of all ages and levels of experience from newbies to hobbyists to professionals covering all aspects of hacking. As they describe it:

"Black Hat USA is the premier security event where members of the security industry gather to learn from elite security researchers in the field. This year's event will be hosted at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada July 21 - 26 and offer over 50 multi-day training sessions, feature 7 Briefings tracks with the latest research, and 2 workshop tracks dedicated to practical application and demonstration of tools."

And EH-Net wants one deserving member to experience all that this week has to offer. So the prize this month is a free ticket to Black Hat USA 2012 Briefings worth $2200 and up. So contribute to EH-Net, and you could be the next Ryan Linn. If you're still reading this and not contributing to our Community Forums, then you're already behind. So become a member of the EH-Net Community, participate and you could very well end up in Vegas with us.

I read through some of the links that were under Ryan Linn's profile that was linked to above and it looks like the opportunity to get to Blackhat/Defon does have an impact on ones career in the Information Security field.

I am in the process of looking to a position where I develop my skills.  My time at the public school district where I am employed seems to be coming to an end due to an unfortunate budget situation and if I was to win this would be an excellent way to peruse a new position.

Thank you for offering us all the chance to get to these two events!

I think it also does have an impact on you personally - just by talking to the guys who belong to the "elite" which may lead to a lot of new ideas  Cool

There's many elite guys who doesn't go there because it's way too expensive (that e.g. doesn't have an employer paying for the trip), even though blackhat did adjust the prices within the recent years to become more affordable  Smiley You will meet a lot of the elite guys at Derbycon too  Grin

You're only going to get out of the conferences whatever you put into them. You can "go to DefCon" and waste the entire time at a bar. I mean, you can do a lot of important networking at the bars too. I guess what I'm trying to say is do some research and pick the right bars.

Seriously though, simply showing up at a conference isn't going to magically launch your career. I'm pretty sure "the next Ryan Linn" comment was alluding to participating in the community and working your ass off, not just being physically present in a hotel or convention center Wink

Oh, I didn't realize you were attending Wink

No, I just keep track of the conferences worth attending Grin (Well, most conferences are worth attending but I keep track of those where you can meet some of the best people.) Next year I will probably be attending Defcon or Black Hat (and / or Derbycon)  Smiley

Lol I just read your reply again and now I understand what you meant  Cheesy

Is it September yet???  Can't wait for DerbyCon.  I have yet to go to Blackhat/Defcon but going to pass this year.  Between DerbyCon, RSA and work travel I have used up most of the solo travel cards with the wife.  I am certainly not going to take her to Vegas with me during those cons.
