FYI - if you didn't see it already, you can upgrade to R2 right now...
http://www.backtrack-linux.org/backtrack/upgrading-to-backtrack-5-r2/
However, if you want fresh isos/images, you'll have to wait till March 1

great! i'm waiting for the image, cause upgrading seems to mess up the vertualbox guest additions because of the new kernel, and somehow i cant seem to get the additions to install for the new kernel...

Anyone know if R2 will have the drivers for the Alfa AWUS036NHR (b/g/n) wireless adapter? I've looked for a list of what's in R2 but I can only find the blanket statements.

Has anyone had success installing flash on the x64 version? I've been through every guide and forum post I've found so far and still no luck.

I don't have R2, but I had trouble installing it on R1. I ran this script to update Backtrack, didn't expect it to fix Flash, and I just kind of assumed I couldn't get Flash to work on x64, then a couple of days later I noticed Flash was working. I can't guarantee that this will fix it since I tried a whole bunch of things to fix Flash, but it's worth a shot.
http://sickness.tor.hu/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/backtrack5_update.py
I just did update all.
NOTE: I have not tried this on R2, nor have I tried to update R1 to R2 using this script. I will at some point, I'm just busy now and can't afford to have things break

lol... finally figured it out.
You have to install the NON 64-bit flash plugin...
Code:
wget http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/11.1.102.63/install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz
tar xvzf install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz
mkdir ~/.mozilla/plugins
mv libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/
* current flash version
You can then remove the Usr directory that's extracted, you only need the .so file

FYI - if you're upgrading from BT1 to BT2 on a VirtualBox machine I recommend first making a clone or snapshot. There appears to be an issue in this setup with the virtualbox guest additions. I ended up having to upgrade virtualbox from .8 to .10 AND running some compile/link options to get the guest additions to build and install correctly. This is required if you want to do cross copy/pasting between host/guest and adaptive screen setting. Other than that I think R2 is working well, I'm anxious to try out the new tools.

DragonGorge,
That's strange, I updated my install of BT5 r1 to r2 on virtual box recently and had no issues with guest additions after.

The upgrade went fine but my first clue something was wrong was the fact that I couldn't adjust my screen resolution (Windows Host, Backtrack Guest). I could set it to stretch but that looks funky. I then noticed that I couldn't paste copy/paste to/from the Host/Guest. I don't know why some people have a problem and other don't but of the links below, only the last one resulted in a fix for me.

1. Does SET-Social Engineering Toolkits work well on BT5r2? I have problem with its handler listening my meterpreter payload.
2. I noticed that in /pentest/exploits/, there was no framework3 directory.
Above all, I have installed BT5r2.
