Hi all,

I wanted to know the best way to search the internet an to try keep my activities as private as I can? I also use firefox so any plugins ?

I read about TOR project but also heard that if someone on the end node captured all the traffic they could get very sensitive data and also when I tried it seem to take ages to make a request to the server.

I also read about data be sent out that how you always seem to get target ads.

There is also software called anonymizer

What do you use ?

I friend linked me to an extension for Chrome the other day that might be what you're looking for:

Here's a few things you can do to separate yourself from your online identity:
- Use a completely different browser for surfing only on sites that is not linked to anything personal.
- When you're using your browser, do it in a virtual machine.
- All of the data on your laptop is encrypted or at least access to the virtual machine is restricted.
- Most importantly, connect to a VPN access point in another country. (This often costs money.)
- Use a series of proxies called "chained proxies".
- Buy prepaid 3G Internet access with money that can't be traced back to you.
- Avoid surfing from home or at least the same upstream Internet service provider you use for regular surfing.
- Do not use your private e-mails for anything you sign up for, use e.g., a fresh hushmail account.
- Never use nicknames that can be linked to you or real information about yourself on websites.

You don't have to use all of these, but if you use all of these then you're on the edge, of complete anonymous and almost untrackable Internet surfing. (Often some of the same tricks blackhats use.)

Use my advise responsibly and for legal activities only of course.

HTTPS Everywhere is a Firefox extension produced as a collaboration between The Tor Project and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. It encrypts your communications with a number of major websites
