www.plain-text.info

This website is an advanced distributed cracking system powered by rainbowtables, wordlists and other techniques.

Cool site. If you have a password hash that needs cracking (if you legitimately forgot a password and you as the admin need to recover it), submit it to this site. They'll crack it for you.

If you need the latest rainbow tables, this is a good place to find them as well.

I would like this NT Hash decoded for my Windows 7 system instead o a reset passowrd.  I previously used "gladiator" and though I had made new password "maximus", but now I'm at a loss.

nice! this can save you a lot of time! however, i would never submit data from a real pentest though. you never know where it will end up.

They also have an IRC channel #rainbowcrack. This channel has a bot that you submit md5, lm hashes to and it will attempt to crack them immediately. If not, just idle in the channel until it does. Extremely useful Tongue

Try this:

http://www.pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

And it is recommended that you please remove your hash.

Hope that helps,

I'm trying to figure out what my password is (forgot the admin one too). And i used OPHCRACK but all it gave was an NT hash and said password not found. Is there any way to figure it out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this your password?  Because sharing how to reset a password could get one in trouble so if its your computer only searching password reset online might help.

If you don't have the password, how did you get the hash?

I can think of one way to do it, but you would be able to just reset the password with the same method...

This is the best response. I appreciate how this site could be useful, but you open yourself up to unnecessary exposure in a professional engagement.

The new members posting hashes are likely not after the actual passwords for very ethical purposes (and it's usually extremely easy to reset the password of a system you have physical access to but have "forgotten" the password).,

The same can be said for any third party where you are submitting client details. This can be fingerprinting, password cracking, vulnerability scanning, port scanning, and sometimes scripts that submit results to a 3rd party like some of the whiteacid.org stuff that you need to be very careful of. You may very well be violating the NDA you signed.
