I just put up a new poll based on my own election day experience today. Running this site and paying attention to the numerous stories of voting machine hacks, I couldn't help myself when it came time to choose how to vote. In my district, we were given the choice - paper or touch screen. Walking by some of the very machines I had seen hacked in videos across the net, I chose paper.

Now I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but even with my paper ballot, I was asked to have my votes tallied by a scanning machine. Made me uncomfortable with the whole process.

After attending the Midwest Information Security Forum, I came home to watch election results. Lo and behold, in less than one hour after the polls closed, Cook County (Chicago) was reporting issues with the tallying of electronic votes.

Good thing I feel very strongly about voting, so this won't sway me from voting now or in the future. But it did make me stop and think... hard.

What did you experience today?
