Last week Leo Laporte and Tom Merritt interviewed Kevin Mitnick on their Triangulation podcast.  It wasn't bad, he's a good story teller for sure.  I think it was good timing to promote his newest book Ghost in the Wires.

The book is pretty good.  I am almost done.  I truly cannot believe this is one man's life and not a movie.

There was some talk on twitter a month or two ago about a movie adaptation so you may get your wish.

Wouldn't it figure, twit.tv just changed their site around and now the link is busted.  http://twit.tv/show/triangulation/21

Good to know they're up on youtube as well.

Anyone else a TWiT listener?  I regularly listen to TNT, TWIT, TWIG, sometimes Security Now (but I've gotten a little bored with Steve Gibson), and the Triangulation interviews are pretty cool.

I used to listen to TWiT, TechGuy and Sec Weekly but have gotten bored of some of the regular content.  Sec Weekly I got bored of Steve promoting his different tools and bragging how he is working on some new tool that will revolutionize security and much of what he says is FUD.  I did like TWiT just don't have the time to keep up with it.

Checking out the video now.  The book is on my list.

Thanks for the heads up, yatz.  He's definitely been getting around promoting his new book.  Watched an episode of him on The Colbert Show just recently, and if you watch his Twitter feed he's been doing lots of radio interviews, etc.

As for TWiT, etc, I used to watch them.  I learned of Leo, Patrick, Kevin back when The Screensavers was still on air, pre-G4TV.  I followed them online post-G4TV via TWiT and all the various Revision3 shows when it first got started, but ike 3xban, I just got bored with it. I too got a bit tired of Steve Gibson.  I then came across the attrition.org page on him (http://attrition.org/errata/charlatan/steve_gibson/) awhile back and found out I wasn't the only one.  Lately, when I'm able to find the time to listen to podcasts, I'm usually listening to PaulDotCom or the ISD Podcast.

I'm loving the book as well. Since we're on the subject, I watch Hak5 occasionally. I had most of the seasons on my HDD crashed, and I sold my backup drive... Bad week.

I watch Hak5 on/off.  I try to watch everyone when I can.  "http://www.grmn00bs.com"  is another site to watch some good blog videos. Not sure if that link was posted on here.

I think they should release a movie on him since I look back on "Track Down" after reading most of his book and it seems like none of it was actually accurate.  I mean it kind of sucked if you were really interested in what happened. I guess it reminds you to go to the source.

If you guys aren't already, definitely listen to PaulDotCom. There's usually some good laughs and interesting technical information. Now that I've moved to more of a management role, it's a great resource to keep me up-to-date with the major news items of the last week.

It's funny you should mention a movie.  They talk about that in the interview, how everyone thought they knew the Kevin Mitnick story and nobody wanted "another" movie/book.  Apparently Kevin couldn't tell the story except what was publicly known by court order until something like 2007.  Now that's up, the new book really tells the story.

As for podcast/vidcast, I like to listen in the car on a 45 min commute, so videos are out.  That's why I like TWiT, but as lorddicranius says, sometimes it gets tiring listening to the same people constantly.  I'd like to pick up something else just as a change in scenery, but I've had a hard time finding a good podcast that's technical enough, informative, and not boring.

Hak5 is video only if I'm not mistaken, or at least you need the video to really know what's going on.  Otherwise I'd probably get into it more.

Can you download PaulDotCom podcast without iTunes?  (I can't stand iTunes.)

I think you can grab the podcast from them directly, they do have an archive.  But it is certainly a decent podcast.  Not to mention they made a great drinking game of APT and Cyber related topics.  Anytime either of them are used, you need to take a drink.

Not to mention they are fellow New Englanders so I may be biased.  The guys are pretty cool as well, they attended a small security conference here in CT over the summer.  Paul did his talk on Offensive Security Countermeasures.  Larry did a cool talk on geo-tracking using Adam Savage from Myth Busters.  He was apparently geo-tagging all his photos that he posted on his twitter feeds.  After confirming a few things they notified him of the information leakage.

ISD Podcast is another decent one and I also tend to listen to Network Security Podcast...

oh to not totally derail the topic Cheesy the interview was decent.  And yes he had to keep his mouth shut for a few years after being released.

I use the BeyondPod app on my Android and play it in my car to and from work. You just plug in the RSS feed url for the podcast and BeyondPod does the rest. You can stream or download. The free version limits you to one download at a time and 10 locally saved episodes per feed.

The podcasts I listen to include:

Exotic Liability
PaulDotCom Security Weekly
Network Security Podcast (Martin McKeay)
OWASP Security Podcast
SANS Internet Storm Center StormCast
Security Justice
