I am looking in Amazon to buy one of this cards:

Alfa AWUS036H 1 Watts

Alfa AWUSO36NH 2 Watts and n band

I read some feedback and they said that the 1 watts works betters for the users, you guys that work/study with wireless, is that true that the the doesn't work well or only some users wrote bad feedback?

topic gets covered from time to time. I've used the 36h and like it. I have 2.  I've heard that the 36NH was working with Backtrack 4r2 (I believe), here on this forum.

The thing about the 2 watt, You're pushing harder to get your signal out, but it's up to the broad cast station, if you see it or not.

I would say it depends (doesn't it always?). Some things to keep in mind. Are you going to use it for Windows or Linux and is it supported? Do you really need the N version (what is its use case?), do you have an 802.11n AP or is the price difference so negligible that you just want it for future use? As long as your OS supports it, I'd say go for the N...it's the way of the future for wireless.

I tend to recommend the Alfa AWUS036H/N adapters to people, purely because of how sensitive they are.

I did WiFu using the AWUS036H and had no problems with it Smiley

I haven't heard much about the N model, but I assume the only major difference is the support of N which is always a bonus Smiley

I used the H in wifu too.

The N uses a different chipset.

But before sign up I need to finish the one that I am taking for Microsoft. So I keep thinking.....

@impelse, I did OSWP first as I wanted to get a taste of Offensive Security training courses without going the full training of OSCP even though I've only ever heard good things about it.

They are both great courses, however if you really are a beginner I probably wouldn't recommend OSCP as a first course but OSWP instead is much much easier to digest as a beginning course Smiley

I had been using BackTrack and several other linux distributions for a few years and I must say I was struggling with the course alot more than I had hoped, but it all paid off in the end xD

I  liked OSWP need to do OSCP still, but I would have liked to see a little about report writing / LEO (what they prefer or at least preferred) included in the class. When I wrote my report for the class, I wasn't sure if I was doing it right. I mean yeah, I passed, but doesn't tell me if my documentation was good.

If you want to study wireless go to securitytube and you'll find everything you need.
Before OSCP I recommend eCPPT or hackingdojo. Like this you'll learn something related to network/web pentesting.

I already downloaded the wireless dvd from securitytube and begin to watch, that was the reason why I begin to think in buying that card.
