Big day for releases... we have Fedora Core 6, then Window Defender and now... Firefox 2.0 was also released today.

Let us know what you think as the IE7 - Firefox 2 battle heats up.

I upgraded to 2.0 and it might just be me, but it seems noticeably faster. It updated all of my extension for 2.0 except for NewsFox. Other then that its seems to be working like a champ, now we wait for the 2.01 patches of all the exploits that will come out in the next 3 weeks.

Just found out why newsfox didn't upgrade, looks like 2.0 has integrated RSS readers. Not too shabby!

My absolute favourite plugin LiveHTTPHeaders doesn't work with Firefox 2.0. I'll stick with 1.5 for the time being I think, or keep a version of Firefox Poratable around for those ever so important plugins.

If you haven't discovered portableapps.com yet, take a look. Just the thing to go on your USB memory stick.

The BBC News website has a head-to-head comparison, which I think puts Firefox marginally in front.

My initial verdict is FF2 is pretty good. It's all those little refinements that, though initially irksome if you're used to v1.5, really make it worth the upgrade.

FF2 on RedHat works perfectly so far; however, on Windows XP, the Tab functionality is completely broken. New tabs show up on the tab bar but they are not selectable. I backed out to 1.5. I need to test it on another XP machine...
