I find myself fighting to maintain technical skills as all the offers I keep getting are information security officer/manager roles or compliance positions. Trying to shift to a more technical role is hard when you have a lot of years of experience in management and audit roles. I work in Security now and do a little of everything including PCI, BCP and DR planning/testing, basic forensics but nothing too deep, security policy, audit coordination, log review/analysis, etc. but the 15% of the time I get to spend doing Pentest or VA is not enough for me!

Ziggy. Never got to go to SUNY. Wish I could have. I have assoicates degrees from Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn Mi. Then transfered and dropped out after a year to the University of Michigan. Doing dual degree (they called it something else because one was Arts Science and Letters and the other was Engineering) in Anthro and Comp Sci

Dynamik, no I haven't gotten it yet. I don't like ebooks for the most part. I've got a few "classics" on my Nokia n800, but for tech, prefer paper and weight. I've already got that book on my wish-list. Should be getting it soon... but I want to get through Dissecting the Hack, Counter Hack Reloaded, Professional Penetration Testing, Hacking Exposed Wireless, and Social Engineering before I get another computer related book. Not that'll work out that way.

I've got the three hacker challenge books queued up on my wishlist too. Along with a few others. Just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day, but man do I try.
