Can't wait. This one opens 2 weeks from tomorrow (Dec 17, 2010) in regular format, 3D and IMAX 3D.

The original was groundbreaking in its CGI (probably didin't even have the term CGI at the time) and was a great influence on my generation getting hooked on computers. Keep in mind that this came out before War Games. Go back and watch TRON again, and you'll clearly see a number of themes that seem original today yet were tackled in a movie released almost 30 years ago.

Get the skinny and see the trailer here from IMDb's Holiday Movie Guide:

And the details here:

Or pay homage to the mouse and go to the official site:

The first Tron was amazing. I remember seeing it on the big screen and being blown away. I still watch it every couple of years and it remains in my top 5 along with LoTR trilogy, Star Wars trilogy (not prequels), Spirited Away and Naked Lunch. I have 2 small children so rarely get to go to the movies but I told my wife I wanted to see this in IMAX 3D for Christmas. We are definitely getting a babysitter!

I just let my kids, 8 and 4, watch Tron this weekend and they loved it.  Of course they also love the original Star Wars and like making Cat5 so I'm not really surprised.  I'm going to have to sweet talk my wife into letting me go out to see it when it comes out.  May be as my anniversary present......hhmmm
