After trying for a month and a half to get studying, I pulled the trigger and will be testing for my Security+ on the 2nd of December.   Are the questions like on the A+ and Net+ where I have 2 nearly identical questions and I have to choose the least wrong?  Any advice?

I was able to get 20% off by saving the email CompTIA sent me offering a discount on a voucher that expired end of October.  I opened the link in November and received 20% off a voucher that expires September 2011  Grin

There are many other threads in the forum regarding this. I am also taking the exam this December (the 28th to be exact) and from what i have read it is like what you've described.

I'm watching http://www.getcertify4less.com/security.asp myself. I thought I was pushing the wire, but then again, I haven't scheduled my exam yet.

On the site cccure.org there are some test for CISSP. I found the one with a medium and less level that are the level of Security+.

If you only want to pass the exam do the crams, but if you want to understand... study  Smiley

I found that Sec+ covers half of the study for CISSP so this can be your next move.

Good Luck!

Which is why I'm putting off the exam for another 30 days. I think I've got a decent base, but I want to know the stuff. I don't want to be one of those people who walk into an interview and say I've got cert x, but not be able to properly discuss the concepts that go with it. (Like a ccna who can't subnet).

Same here, have been reading a lot and looking into the subject.  I have been interested in network security for a while and that doesn't hurt either.  I feel really comfortable and actually looking forward to taking my test on the 2nd (also looking forward to lunch afterward Grin )

CISSP looks like a good choice but I think I will first pick up my CCNA so I can further my career opportunities while working toward a security job.  I just got a good deal on 3 Cisco 2600 routers and have a c2900XL switch to play with.

I would not call it a simple exam that is for sure. It covers a very wide area of knowledge. Read the questions and the answers very closely.  I find that reading the answer choices from the bottom up works well since it forces you to read them a little more closely.

Good luck!!

Passed my Security+ yesterday with 884.  I reviewed all questions 2 more times before finally submitting the test.  Changed about 5-6 answers that I didn't like.  using similar questions as hints for other questions helped.

Thanks Guys!  I am excited about Lifetime, started studying for A+ back in July and saw A+, Net+, and Sec+ were moving to an expiring system, talk about motivation.

Not gonna know what to do with my free time between now and when I start studying CCNA.  Maybe learning Python.  and I finally get to paint my Warhammer 40k Models
