Thanks again to McGraw-Hill. I know this Giveaway comes quite late in the month. Our friends within the publishing giant have come through with flying colors. Hope you agree.

Win CISSP Book Sets by Shon Harris!!
Books, books and more books. It seems like us security professionals have 1 of two problems... We can never get enough time to read all of the great books out there or our budgets don't allow us to buy all the titles we want. But what happens when you need certain tomes to start or advance your career? Now I won't pretend to know how to manipulate space-time, but I can get all EH-Netters deals on the books they need.
This is where
McGraw-Hill Professional
comes in. As they put it, "Take the shortest path to get certified in CISSP, CISA, or CompTIA Security+. Get 30% off on these books from McGraw-Hill, exclusively for The Ethical Hacker Network." Not only have they offered a deal to all readers of EH-Net, but they are also giving away
2 CISSP books for each of 5 EH-Net members
. And not just any CISSP books, but...
1.
CISSP All-in-One Exam Guide, 5th Edition ($79.99)
, the new edition of the #1 CISSP book! Written by Shon Harris, the #1 name in IT security certification and training. This exam guide offers complete coverage of all the material on the latest release of the CISSP exam.
2.
CISSP Practice Exam From Shon Harris ($39.99).
This book provides hundreds of realistic CISSP practice exam questions.
For information on these and many other security titles,
please visit the landing page created by McGraw-Hill specifically for EH-Net
. On a side note, many thanks to McGraw-Hill for stepping in when the scheduled sponsor had to back out last minute. Now get out there and start participating in the
EH-Net Community Forums
!

Wow again, you keep getting the good stuff.
However, side question somewhat related. How does a person know if the CISSP is even right for them? I mean I have several books that at the time I thought the cert sounded cool, only to find out after reading into it some I didn't want it. The CCDA comes to mind.

Person ABC :
<<<Profile>>>
High School Certificate
Bachelors of Commerce
Skills : Trial balance , Balance Sheet , bank reconciliation, TPL Accounts , Clash Flows , LIFO , FIFO , Costing , ledger entries and many more .
2 Years experience with Outbound Sales Call Centre
1 Year experience with Working on quickbooks as an assistant accountant with a local company .
--- Cleared CISSP ---
Will he get a job in InfoSec ( probably management ) area that easily
Moral of the story : Its not the certificate which provides you with job , its the profile of a person .
Other then that LUCK is an important factor .
I hope this helps

Nope, not much help at all really. I could do a long response, but it boils down to.
I like doing the tech side, with very little desire to be management. So is the CISSP even right for me?

The CISSP is right for anyone working in infosec for one very simple reason. HR drones are morons and don't know the difference between infosec management, firewall administration and penetration testing and they all recognize CISSP as "the information security cert". Will you learn skills useful for your job? Maybe, that's debatable but you will probably get an interview.

Getting past the interview will be the issue. The CISSP or any other cert will do you no good if you can't do what it says your suppose to be able to do. There is no substitute for experience.
