VMware Server is no longer a beta product, and VMware Player has been recently updated. Both are part of VMware's line of free tools:

I believe the latest version addresses som security vulnerabilities with untrusted images, so if your a current VMWare user now is the time to upgrade. The free VMWare server is excellent for setting up a test lab, so don't forget to read the recent article on this very site...
