SANS has come up with a new course on Metasploit and this one is authored by Ed Skoudis and John Strands. The other Metasploit course SECURITY 553 :: Metasploit for Penetration Testers is still available as of now. The new course is a 2 day class and will debut at SANS Network Security 2010. Looks like another gem from Ed Skoudis

Noticed this course the other day too, sounds interesting. There are some other new courses coming too, such as Social Engineering Defense. There are quite a few courses from SANS which I'd love to take, but they are way too expensive for paying on your own.

SEC580 has been added to the SANS vLive! (live, online training) schedule.  Class starts October 4.  Register by Sep. 1 and tuition is reduced to $1,405.

Since no one has taken this course answering your question will be very difficult. But you can compare the topics of this course with metasploit unleashed's syllabus.

My guess is that SANS will cover a lot more than Metasploit unleashed since they know that there's already a free course out there. This might be one of the reasons for SANS to re-vamp this class, along with changes in Metasploit of course! Also, with SANS you have the benefit of an instructor you can interact with during the class and labs.

But, then, people like me will always go for the free stuff
