Just found out today that he jacked material from someone else here as well, MadmanTM. This one was an article on VoIP hacking that was taken directly from an issue of Hakin9. The pages are straight scans still in graphical form, and you can even see where the edge of the pages in the magazine were. It's completely intact, including the formatting and author info at the end.

I know EC-Council is after him for claiming to be a CEH. I wonder if he has any other certs or memberships, real or imagined, out there. This business is surely enough to get anything that he does actually have pulled from him.

Edit: Here are a few possibilities from his web page

The Computer Security Institute
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
The American Society for Industrial Security
The California Association of Licensed Private Investigators

Yeah I called EC Council and they have been hearing about him. From what I have heard he claims a CISSP and he doesnt have that either.

He is from the ATL area and I know of a seminar that he is speaking at. It is for a chamber of commerce. I hope they don't go through with it.  I got a bad feeling about it.

The CISSP was on twitter today, and we've got EC-Conuncil volunteers here (you can try to guess who they are), that have been put on the record about the CEH. (No I am not one of them, but I 'd like to be someday).

*edit: forgot the part below. Smiley

Hopefully some Local InfoSec people will show up and protest his talk. Go in and ask hard questions during the talk.

Exactly. If instead we had found out that he did hold a CEH, it would have been revoked.

Is it just me, or does it totally look like his name was edited into this article?

Apparently he has decided to re-release his press release regarding racism:

It would be nice if he just laid off the whole racism nonsense.  Okay, so some anonymous scrubs post some degrading comments on youtube.  Big whoop.  No need to send out a press release about it.

It would also be nice if he simply answered the questions on whether or not he copied other people's work, that's the biggest thing.  Lying about certs, ok he's caught.  But publishing a book of largely copied material is a legal problem.

Maybe all this publicity is why he did it in the first place...  Huh

He stole also from my boss, Armando, from eLearnSecurity. I hope he gets what he deserves!

I agree. We do not need unethical types in our field.

@Ketchup
People usually don't talk about them when they do them. Open Society is good, but anything said in public can get twisted by the defense.

I know there was a call on twitter to ping Don or a Legal Person (from her twitter bio) if Evans used you're IP.

Edit: Adding the tweet

TiffanyRad: If anyone has reports of Evans/Ligatt infringing your IP, plz ping me or Don at Ethical  Hacker Netwk. Hacking him won't help our issue.

It burns me that this guy is trying to pull the race card. It's because he is African America that the hate flows; the hate stems from his lack of ethics. There are plenty of African Americans and other minorities in IT Sec that are accepted just fine, the difference is they have a clue and are not shisters!
