Great, congrats. Wink

What did you use for studying? Any other thoughts you would like to share?

Thanks Smiley

As with all Sans courses I used the course material to prepare for the exam. I started out with the mp3 files but stopped listening after while. I essentially went through the course ware twice.

On the first go, I did all the exercises/questions etc. On the second go I made notes and highlighted important sections. I also used the opportunity to create an index of the material.

The exam was actually harder than expected. Although I did finish in a little over two hours.

I also found that even though you have access to the course material you still have to KNOW the material. Even knowing where to find the information is not enough as a lot of the questions are scenario based and therefore call on you to apply principles.

My advice is to take nothing for granted. For example I have some experience using Javascript. So during the course I skipped over that section. Well it turns out that that was one of the areas I fell down in Smiley

Also when doing the course try to focus on the principles.

All in all it was a fun course.

Thanks for the writeup. It seems indexing is one of the main recommendations given when a SANS exam is the topic. Again, Congrats on passing. Wink

I have taken several SANS/GIAC courses and tests, and one recommendation I will add is to say make sure you know the material and only look up answers if you do not know the answer right away or have a question with two answers that could be right.

I have also found that indexing is becoming less important as they have been adding tables of contents to the most recent revisions.
