I read that and Todd Lammle's book the the last time I took my CCNA. I didn't care for Odom's books that much. Where as I passed the CCNA the first time with just Lammle's book.

The lab will be the biggest help though. The last time I took the test, I didn't finish. Mostly because I couldn't remember the commands I needed. I took the test without touching a piece of Cisco gear in 4 years, and only reading the books. Needless to say I didn't pass.

I could be wrong, but I believe that DoD 8570 still has some time before certifications are required. What I mean is that you still have some time before you are REQUIRED to have the certifications.

I believe certs are now required. I'm A+ and I got all of my admin rights taken away in February, I can't even install a dam printer anymore. Stationed at Ft. Carson, if that helps.
