That's right. Of course this is meant to be for the novice, but there are plenty of IT pros who are Linux newbies.

Dell did sell consumer desktops with Linux at one point but AFAIK they stopped doing so. The docs seem out of date, just look at the distros listed...

  • Caldera Open Linux
  • Mandrake 7.0
  • Mandrake 7.1

No one in their right mind would install one of those! I think you can still buy Dell server kit with Linux installed.
