Hi m8s,

I was wondering, just for fun: what kind of music do you guys like to listen to while hacking/doing other comp stuff?

I myself often like something calm, like reggea (Bob -, Ziggy -, Damien Marley, Eek-a-Mouse), or stuff like Massive Attack and St. Germain.
Although I love other style's of music (electro, metal), I find it harder to focus with them on during all-night programming/comp fiddling, but that's offcourse a very person-specific view.

If you can name some groupnames with your hacking musicstyle's, please do! I might find some inspiration to expand that particular playlist Smiley

I put on some epic music -  Songs that put me in the hacking mood have been Requiem for a Dream, Dracul & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFS4zYWxzNA&feature=related. Streaming Tags Trip from http://somafm.com/ helps me out sometimes too!

I am like-minded with you two, but I am a bit stranger I think:  AIR, Anthrax, Basement Jaxx, Daft Punk, Dam-Funk, Deee-Lite, DJ Shadow, Dr. Dre, Dreadzone, Empire of the Sun, Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus, Grateful Dead, GWAR, Hooverphonic, Jamiroquai, Jazzanova, KISS (Music From the Elder), Lawnmower Deth, Lemon Jelly, Massive Attack, Megadeth, Morcheeba, Mux Mool, The Orb, Portishead, Ronald Jenkees, Roy Ayers, Royksopp, Sorcerer, Stakka Bo, St. Germain, and Them Crooked Vultures are the top for me.

Sorry for the rambling...I love music just a little while during pen testing.   Grin

This will sound weird.
Ice Cube, Tupac, DMX, WC & Maad Circle, westside connection, immortal technique, and other old stuff.

Depending where I am, there might be a tv on in the background. However I usually don't listen to anything. I  used to listen to heavy rock and metal when doing stuff, but enjoy the silence (or as close as I can get to it) now.

I would have to say anything that gets you in the 'mood'!  Wink
For myself, it's just background noise since I am concentrating and blocking out the sounds of little feet running around the house!

Can range from classical to 80's genre!

Currently going through the electrical era, mainly music without words, although if am going through noddy tasks, my taste could venture off into pretty much anything.

To name a few:
The Crystal Methods/Faithless/Orbital/Massive Attack/Hard house/Dre/Eminem/Bob/Radiohead

Being going through Rock music, anything too hardcore seems to anger me, so I generally listen to a lot of chilled music.

For pandora.com a proxy is needed if located outside the US, due to licensing constraints. Shouldn't be a problem though.
