I am struggling which certificate to go after and need some input.  which one is better in the job market world?

C|EH or GPEN?

I've yet to see any job postings specifically asking for GPEN. I have seen many that ask for CEH. The CEH is more widely known.

There's another comparison thread around here somewhere if you do a search. Basically, they are two different levels of certification. The CEH is more of an entry into ethical hacking to get you familiar with the process, the terms and many tools. The GPEN is a bit more targeted and focused on specific tools and penetration testing practices, as well as business aspects - topics that are covered in the ECSA/LPT follow-on course to CEH.

I'll second BillV's response.

CEH is more well known, but from what I have been hearing it isn't keeping up in the certification market. GPEN is great. Not only does it give you good training on the tools it teaches the business side of things which is very important. You can be the best pen tester out there, but if you can't communicate findings with the business they you aren't doing your job.
