GCIH (SANS 504) and GPEN (SANS 560)
«

Hi All
How similar are the GCIH and GPEN exams? I have studied for the GCIH exam and think i should pass ok but was wondering how much more material i would need to learn in order to pass the GPEN exam? Unfortunately i cannot afford the SANS 560 course also to help prepare for the GPEN so would need to try and do it off my own back and as i have heared the two exams are similar does anyone know how much more i would need to learn?
Thanks in advance

You should be able to use the information on the bulletin pages to compare the two:
GPEN
and
GCIH
I have only done GPEN and the exam was mapped pretty well to what's in that bulletin, and it did go into detail with those topics.

Well i passed no problem and really should have got more, but very happy. Next is the GPEN which will be a bit more difficult as i will be doing it without any SANS resources. Any other advice on what to learn other than Ed Skoudis Counter hack reloaded?
Thanks

I have taken and passed both tests, and I would say that the overlap is a maximum of 40%. Not having the course material will make it much tougher to pass the test. I have Counter Hack Reloaded, but I haven't read it yet so I an't tell you how helpful it would be. Good luck.
