Has anyone ever read this book?  I will let Don throw in a link if he wants so he gets his bone for this site.  I saw it at Borders and picked it up for $19.99.  It seems like it is packed with some good info, but was wondering if anyone had read it before.  It didn't have many reviews in Amazon whatsoever.

Thanks for the thought, so click here for more info from Amazon.

But from the one review of the book, it doesn't look that promising. I'd be interested in other thoughts as well.

I own the second edition.

Found it a good resource at the time as I was new to the game. Covers everything/most in sufficient detail to understand what is going on but possibly not enough to actually implement the material. But all sections generally have a several good quality links to research further if it piques your curiosity.

Overall is a decent book to start with, cheap enough and small enough for initial dive into security/hacking, but isn't in depth enough to entice me to upgrade to the latest version.

Gengar13,

Do you think you could do a mini-review / you impressions of the book? I saw the 1 review on Amazon that Don mentioned but would be intereseted in hearing more opinions.

Sure can and was planning on doing this as well....great minds.   Wink

I couldn't pass it up for the price.  I see that Amazon had one review and it wasn't praising the book.  The critic nit-picked some things that were irrelevant to its contents.  So far, it is decent, but will do a write-up once done.

I havent seen the latest edition but the last one I read was very weak and not worth the time or money. I hope 3.0 corrects this because there is increasing competition out there and some decent books.
