Anyone have any favorite books on cyber/information warfare? The only one on my shelf that's actually dedicated to the topic is Information Warfare Principles and Operations by Waltz. Its a good book, but getting a bit long in the tooth.

As I haven't dealt with Cyber Warfare before, this thread is much appreciated.

The book you listed sounds interesting, though it is a little pricy. Any special requirements needed before you should work through it? May consider to get this one as I haven't found many others.

A few others I found:
Information Warfare: How to Survive Cyber Attacks
Black Ice: The Invisible Threat of Cyber-Terrorism
Information Warfare: Separating Hype from Reality
Inside Cyber Warfare: Mapping the Cyber Underworld - coming end of this year

Interesting, I'll have to check those out. The Waltz book is good, but really a theory book. No particular expertise needed to follow it.

Really good book, though old.

Dont know if you've seen this, its not really book category, I found an MMORPG called Cyber War..
www.cyberwars.com
The year is 2020. All civilization has gone under. There is now a raging war between the Net Guards and Hackers, good and evil. It's up to you to take a side, and fight for what you think is right. Riches, fame, and power await you... Can you handle it?

Looks kind interesting, I think I'll take a closer look, it says on there forum page under hacking, Discussion of DDOS attacks, SQL injection, XSS, and other site vulnerabilities. NOT an open discussion for "how to's" on attacking websites. and straight away someone has posted need wireshark assistance!?! Rofl.

This looks like a pretty long list of literary works worth a glance.. Love the site there advertised on.. http://staff.washington.edu/dittrich/cyberwarfare.html Cheesy

According to the Wiki a Cyber Warrior is a person who is highly skilled in the art of Cyber Warfare. Governments, their militaries, law enforcement, and the private sector around the world are taking the initiative to train their people in the field of cyber warfare. The necessary skills that a cyber warrior shall possess will vary in magnitude; however, the key skills shall include: information security, hacking, espionage, and computer forensics.

This one is an old book. Near mid 90s so a few of the things mused about won't really be surprising to some. But it's a small booklet and I enjoyed it / I still like it / when I got it new to keep me busy while on jury duty.

"What is Information Warfare?" by Martin C. Libicki
from Institute for National Strategic Studies.  1996 revision

4 MB scanned to PDF hosted by dtic.mil  Public distribution approved.

Also while looking for this old book online (cuz I sure wasn't going to cut up my old copy and scan it for anyone) Smiley .. I noticed a U.S. AirForce site had a list of InfoWar books and related documents. I didn't notice anything online just a listing. Coincidentally the site's date shows 1996 as well but it's possible the info it list could be newer.

EDIT: forgot the AF Link.
