Coming home from SANS 2009 with my son asleep on my lap, I couldn't pull out my laptop. Well, I could, but it would probably leave some nice red marks on the side of his head. Instead, I did what most travellers do. I grabbed the SkyMall magazine just to pass the time. I was surprised to find not one but 2 pens with video cameras in them for surveillance. It looks like a remote. Now that would be awesome to be able to turn it on from your pocket instead of having to hit the top of the pen making your recording less obvious. Low and behold, it was the wall charger. Why it has a big button in the middle, I have no idea.

Somewhat un-related, but rather funny.  At my building they just installed a 'wall display' that continually cycles through missing children photos.  Kind of an attention grabber... as I was looking at it I noticed a little shiny black nub at the bottom.  As I inspected it closer, it turned out to be a built in camera in the frame of the display.  Very cool actually, so it catches people's photos as they walk in the building and turn to look at the wall mount that is changing beside them.  I wave each day when I leave work heh.    I thought it was a pretty fun idea to grab facial shots of folks though, not sure who came up with it since I dont' run the sec for the building, just the network that deals with my agency.  The little hidden camera thing made me think about it.
