Awsome....I am tired of Symantec buying these kinds of programs and then taking them off the market. Where's the fun in that?

Hrmmm I wonder if this is just a re-release of the tool or if this signals L0pht rising from the grave...

Is this due to the (very smart) clause the L0pht guys added to the contract with Symantec, that if LC didn't see a major release for X years it fell back to the control of L0pht and Symantec basically lost the product? (I'm sure I heard this).
Can't tell if that would mean they've been working on this for a while and there's going to be major changes & feature improvements, or someone in legal going "I've not see this date before, I wonder what it is? OH SHI-" followed by some minor changes and the marketing dept put on high alert.
I'm hoping it's the first.

Acording to Space Rogue-one of the former L0pht members-new features include support for 64-bit platform and upgraded rainbow tables.

Even though the site is not up yet, I did find a little more info from Liquidmatrix Security Digest:
Quote
Here are dildog and Weld Pond (pic courtesy of Ben Jackson) doing their preso (on now) at SOURCE Boston where they’re announcing the new release of their recently reclaimed code for L0phtcrack.
Here is a tweet from @innismir describing the proposed pricing model,
LC6 pricing: Al can do Unlimited accounts. $295: 1 host, $595 1 host + Scheduling, $1195 Ulimited license.

actually lophtcrack 5.0 still works wonder. I prefer this over John the ripper although the latter is faster in cracking the hashes, but it cannot differenciate the upper and lowercases.
throw in the rainbows tables for alphanumeric + symbols (34GB), you're good to crack most of the passwords in a normal business company you're auditing. they may say the have a strong password policy in place, but without cracking them, you'll never know if it's using Abcd1234.
looking forward to this new release.

I like the password auditing where it tells you how difficult a password was to crack without displaying it. Nice feature.
