What video series and books do you recommend for CEH?
«

I just finished the official CEH book and I am looking to complete a video series and a second book in addition to running my own lab. What video series and books do you recommend in addition to the official book? I've read some of the reviews about video training and books, but wanted to hear from the every day geeks and not just those who have the motivation to write a review.
I don't want to waste my companies money on training that won't work. I borrowed my co-workers CBT nuggets, but after two sections I am not liking the instructor. One of my main pet peeves is that I do not agree with him when he says all ethical hackers are gray hat, because even as a white had there comes a point where you need to test an exploit on someone elses system. That's bull. Setup a lab, find someone hosting a test network, or get permission. Plus he also comes across as a cheesy used car salesman.
So, let's hear it? What videos and books should I consider?

When you say you've used the official CEH book, do you mean the study guide or the courseware?
I've never tried any videos, but the one endorsed by EC-Council is
Specialized Solutions

Hello Unsupported!
I teach the CEH course for my work. If you are going for
version 5
The Official Study Guide by Kimberly Graves and CEH Training Slides should be enough to pass the test for sure. Make sure you understand each slide and the review slides.
Supplemental but not really necessary are:
Specialized Solutions CEH Training Videos
Certified Ethical Hacker Exam Prep By Michael Gregg
Build Your Own Security Lab: A Field Guide for Network Testing
For practice questions use:
Pass 4 Sure v2.73-4 test questions
If you are going for
version 6
Specialized Solutions is the only company with adequate supplemental training as of now.
I suggest going for
v5
for now until other companies cacth up =)
Good luck!

BillV - I am using just the book, not the courseware.
Jhaddix - Thank you for the suggestions. I am going for V5. I liked the readability of the Official Study Guide by Graves, but I felt it lacked the depth. I am really getting into the Career Academy videos. It feels comfortable.
The Michael Gregg book keeps on coming up for recommendations. Unfortunately it's not on Books24x7, so work will have to buy it unless someone in my department has it. At least I have Gregg's Hacking The Stack, which appears to be a very good book.
I also need to go back to the library (county and college) they may have it!
Edit: It's an ebook available from my college library. My company loves it when I save them money.
Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I do not like to use practice tests a lot. I use them as just a quick check to see if I need to improve in any areas. I do not like to rely on them as the gospel of how the test will be.

Correct =)
Pass for sure v2.73 is a large base of the questions that are very similar to the test.
BUT
Never count on practice tests. Always have a good understanding of the materials, and remember to study the official slides and book. These are what the test is based on, they cant go outside of the scope of the official training materials.
My suggestion, leverage the above materials.
Put together a binder with important reference pages. Nmap switches, snort reference, anything you can find in the books and slides that you don't feel 100% on, etc. Take that binder and transcribe it, by hand, notate it, and practice the labs associated with it.
That's how I prepare for exams, and it usually works wonders. hope that helps!

Very similar is a bit of an understatement. The use of these on cert tests is an old argument

Hello guys,
I am studying for CEH, and I really want to do some practice questions, to have an idea of my level of preparation. So, where can I find Pass 4 Sure v2.73-4 test questions? I tried their website with no success.
Thank you!
