Wireshark 1.0.6 has been released. Installers for Windows, Mac OS X 10.5.5 and above (Intel and PPC), and source code is now available.
In this release
Security-related bugs in the Tektronix K12 and NetScreen file formats have been fixed. See the advisory for details.
Many other bugs have been fixed.
This release includes an experimental package for Mac OS X 10.5.5 and above. For a complete list of changes, please refer to the
1.0.6 release notes

On non-Windows systems, Wireshark could crash if the HOME environment variable contained sprintf-style string formatting characters. Discovered by babi. (Bug 3150)
Versions affected: 0.99.8 to 1.0.5
*
Wireshark could crash while reading a malformed NetScreen snoop file. Discovered by babi. (Bug 3151)
Versions affected: 0.99.7 to 1.0.5

Wireshark could crash while reading a Tektronix K12 text capture file. (Bug 1937)
Versions affected: 0.99.6 to 1.0.5

Crash when loading capture file and Preferences: NO Info column (Bug 2902)

Some Lua scripts may lead to corruption via out of bounds stack (Bug 3062)

DHCPv6 dissector doesn't handle malformed FQDN (Bug 3134)

WCCP overrides CFLOW as decoded protocol (Bug 3175)

Improper decoding of MPLS echo reply IPv4 Interface and Label Stack Object (Bug 3179)
*
ANSI MAP fix for TRN digits/SMS and OTA subdissection (Bug 3214)

The 1.0 branch can now be built with Visual Studio 2008.

I got wireshark 1.0.6 but dont kno how to use it.... Since Its my first experiance,
so plz help me out.... Is there any nuggets regarding wireshark

This is the best book that will get you up and running on Wireshark the fastest... only 192 pages! It even describes various protocols in many practical exercises, which is very important in security work:
Practical Packet Analysis by Chris Sanders

Laura Chappell at the Protocol Analysis Institute has authored some great books and has a number of resources at
http://www.packet-level.com/
. I learned quite a bit about networking and IP in general from her Intro and Advance Network Analysis books.
Looks like there are even some Wireshark courses now.
