Yuppers, you get what you pay for. Bite the bullet and go get some quality training. This is (theoretically) your career that we're talking about there.

I know you get what you pay for, take a look at some of the SANS OnDemand Demos. The information is usually basic and designed to get your interest up, there is mini assessment at the end (you can re-take as many times as necessary until you 'pass').

You do get a [pdf] certificate on completion, whilst not terribly useful for hunting for a new job it could (and I have) be used to show commitment and/or interest to your employer. Couldn't hurt either way....

Does the PDF cert look any good? Im thinking that i may be able to sneak it into my cert portfolio and im sure it would look good on the CV and if the employer is not entirely clued up about security certs (as many of them arent aware of many avaliable certs) then they may note it as a professional cert Cheesy maybe a long stretch but prob wouldnt hurt th CV! Cheesy

Birdcr,

'cert' looks OK, but has the word 'demo' or 'excerpt' in the course title so may be difficult to pass off as a full blown cert (is this ethical??...). However, as I've stated before it can come in handy as evidence that you have undertaken some training off you own bat to prove willingness. Don't think I'd trust it further than that
