I tried downloading 5 times yesterday but the plug-in wouldn't install for some reason... it worked the first try today, odd. Now I have a handful of product keys

So I threw a spare hard drive into my laptop, and installed Win7 Beta. Since it basically is a Vista Upgrade, I wasn't expecting much. I also didn't have time to do much except take a quick look around. First impression is that it comes close to if not surpasses the speed of my XP install with the look and goodies of Vista. Not a bad way to start for a beta. Only issue I found right away was that although it did automatically find the specific driver for my video card, it didn't allow me to run aero which runs fine in Vista. Don't know if that had an impact in the speed, since I wasn't running at full tilt, but the speed difference was noticeable.

Honestly, that's about all I'll do with it for a while. As mentioned above, Vista was in beta for a very long time. Although I expect 7 to be in the RTM phase in early 2010 or possibly a Nov surprise in time for the holidays, we still have several Betas & RCs to go before it's worth more of my time.
